The Rev and Ron Acoustic Duo is exactly what the name implies. My songwriting and playing partner from Sol Dog, Ron Rifkin, and I decided early in 2007 that it might be fun to do a few shows totally stripped down, with nothing but acoustic guitar, piano, and our two voices. We first started performing this way in the spring of '07, and we were surprised both by how much fun it is and by how much people seem to enjoy it.

In the Rev and Ron Acoustic Duo, we perform many cover tunes but also many original songs that Ron and I wrote while we were in Sol Dog together. We also still write songs together, so hopefully we'll be adding new original material to our acoustic shows. This is a no bells and whistles way to hear us. If you're familiar with Sol Dog, you know what an imposing wall of sound the band is capable of putting out, so obviously this is a big change of gears. The original music that we played with Sol Dog sounds completely different. Many songs are done at a different tempo, or otherwise differently than we did them in the electric band. I think the Acoustic Duo is definitely worth checking out.
