About the Reverend
Rev is a "roots-rock" guitar player operating out of Norwalk, CT. He's been playing guitar since he was 13, and most of his training came from his father, Tony DiCerto, an accomplished jazz guitarist who also works regularly in CT and NY.

Rev formed his first band in high school. That first attempt was short-lived, since it was the first time any of the members had ever played with another musician in their lives. The name of that first band? Well, they didn't want to argue about a name, so they pulled letters out of a hat. There may still be a tape or two floating around of... Kzprfmzyl. Yes. That was really the name!

His first gig was a high school talent show, at which he and his then band Generally Electric performed the classic Chuck Berry song "Johnny B. Goode." It was all downhill from there.

Rev had 2 main bands throughout college, and after that formed a band called Blue News. It started out as a trio, focusing exclusively on blues music. While playing with Blue News Rev met TBone Stone and other popular local players, including the members of the band that went on to become Deep Banana Blackout. Actually, it was at this time that people started calling him "The Rev." It started out as "The Preacher-Man," then got shortened to "The Reverend." By now, "Rev" is name enough for him.

Blue News gained and lost members for a while, and eventually morphed into Sol Dog, which recorded two CDs, The Things You Make Me Do and Whatever Gets You There (both CDs are currently still in the running for the coveted "Wordiest CD Title In History" award.). The first CD started out as a Blue News project, but turnarounds in the membership of the band prompted a name change and a change in musical focus. The second CD was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, and was produced by Johnny Neel, the gifted keyboardist/singer/songwriter, who has played with bands such as The Allman Brothers Band, Gov't Mule, and Blue Floyd. That CD is available at www.cdbaby.com. With Sol Dog, Rev got to play some amazing shows, including some very special opening act slots in New York City. For a while it looked like big things were ahead for Sol Dog. Sol Dog, by the way, is still playing shows, and you should also check them out (www.soldog.com).

Rev's sort of out on his own now, musically. The current plan is to write a CD featuring all his own songs, with no co-authors, and to record it with some of his incredible musician friends, and then see what happens. Wish him luck in finding the time to write! Also, he continues to work with some of his former Sol Dog bandmates, most notably Ron Rifkin, with whom he wrote much of the music on Whatever Gets You There. You should check out some Rev and Ron Acoustic Duo shows. They'll be posted on this site. In the interim, while Rev is trying to get another gigging band together, he's still booking shows. For now, since there's no solid band, no demo, nothing except Rev's personal reputation on which to book the band, Rev's electric gigs will be billed as Rev and Friends. Also be on the lookout for an acoustic 4-piece "band" that may be making some appearances. On top of all that, Rev occasionally fills in with some other bands, most notably the excellent CT blues band, Fade to Blues. Check them out because they are a GREAT band!

Every Wednesday, Rev hosts the electric open jam at Jimmy's Seaside on Cove Road in Stamford, CT. So come down and jam!
